Spero Means Hope
Our name, derived from the Latin word for “hope,” reflects the very heart of our mission. At Spero Hospice, we believe that even at the end of life, there is hope — hope for comfort, hope for peace, hope for meaningful moments with loved ones, and hope for a journey marked by dignity.
Founded in East Brunswick, New Jersey, Spero Hospice & Palliative Care was built on the belief that every person deserves compassionate, personalized care during life's most challenging moments. We are not a large corporate health system — we are your neighbors, committed to serving our community with the warmth and attention that only a locally-rooted hospice can provide.
Our interdisciplinary team — including physicians, registered nurses, home health aides, social workers, chaplains, and bereavement counselors — works together to address the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of every patient and family we serve.

Spero Hospice is accredited by the Community Health Accreditation Partner (CHAP), an independent, nonprofit accrediting body recognized by CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) as a deeming authority. This accreditation demonstrates our compliance with nationally recognized standards of quality care.
Medicare & Medicaid Certified
As a certified Medicare and Medicaid hospice provider, Spero Hospice meets the rigorous requirements set by the federal government for hospice care. Most hospice services are fully covered under Medicare Part A, with no out-of-pocket costs to patients.
We Honor Veterans — Level 3 Partner
Spero Hospice is a Level 3 We Honor Veterans partner, a program developed by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
